My inexpensive DIY Family Wall Calendar includes paints chips and a picture frame to create a beautiful place to organize all your family events.
My husband has been after me for so long to put up a wall calendar so we can know when he is out of town, what’s for dinner, & other important dates. I haven’t found one I loved and I wanted the dry & erase option. So, I made my own inexpensive DIY family wall calendar. It is simple to organize our day to day and I can easily erase & update without the ugly mark ups.
Our family is all over the place so we have loved having it so far. We personally use it for the following things:
- Extra circular activities for the kids
- Meal Planning
- Out of town trips
- School Activities – Days off
- Doctor Appointments
Organizing & routines are two of the best ways to keep sanity in my life. I mentioned ways to keep stress free morning routines here, well this inexpensive DIY family wall calendar keeps your activities in order in a neat, clean, stress free way!
It is quite the easy craft and you will only need the following items:
- Large Glass Picture Frame – I used 16×20
- 35 Paint Color Chips
- Double-Sided Tape
**You may also need but not necessary:
- Paint Brush
The process isn’t an exact science and I am not an exact kind of girl. Which is why I am horrible at baking. But, I promise to give you steps that are easy to follow!
First of all, take your frame apart and pull out the picture frame insert that has the fake family and size of frame on it. Flip it over and hope that it is white. If it is not white, you are going to need the paint & paint brush to paint it white! Or, if you like the color (mine was neutral brown, so no), then leave it like it is. If you have a white background, move on to the next step.
Next, cut your paint color chips to the same size. I randomly had a Behr paint color selection tool that had tons of paint color chips on it. However, the only ones big enough to use were from the white family, which created a soft color pallet for my project. I ended up loving it!
Once you figure out your 35 colors, create the pattern on the back of the photo frame paper. I arranged mine by color families and which ones complimented the other. You can be super creative here! Make sure you leave plenty of space for the month to be written at the top.
After you are happy with the color chip placement, stick them on to the paper using double-sided tape. I used a straight edge to make sure my top row was in a straight line. After that, I eye balled it. Once they are all secured, flip the paper back over in the frame and secure the back.
Finally, you can fill in the month, days, and activities for your family! I just love h turned out and I look forward to using this to keep our family organized!
