These 3 All Natural Homemade Hardwood Floor Cleaners will tackle all your cleaning needs. Each recipe is safe and non toxic for the little ones.As a mom with two little ones, I try my best to get on the ‘all natural wagon’.  Through trial and error, I’ve narrowed it down to 3 All Natural Homemade Hardwood Floor Cleaners that I can easily customize.  Not all hardwood floor cleaners give the results I’m looking for.  While some cleaners leave floors looking either dull or streaked, you will find these cleaners to be efficient, non toxic and leave your floors looking squeaky clean.

White Vinegar is an active ingredient in each of the following recipes.  Vinegar acts as a disinfectant, cuts through dirt and grime and eliminates pet and food odors.  White Vinegar is acidic, therefore, diluting with water is important.

Always make sure to vacuum and/or sweep dirt particles off your hardwood floor before mopping.  (The vacuum found in 7 Helpful House Cleaning Mommy Tips, is what I use).  Leaving dirt on the floor while mopping could result in scratches.

These 3 All Natural Homemade Hardwood Floor Cleaners will tackle all your cleaning needs. Each recipe is safe and non toxic for the little ones. Here are a few addition helpful tips:

  • First of all, when mopping your hardwood floors, make sure to go with the grain.  This will help your floors look bright and clean, not dull.
  • Needing to clean up after your sweet little one has puked, or the family pet has made a ‘mess’?  Add a few drops of tea tree oil or 2-3 tbsp baking soda to any of these Hardwood Floor Cleaners to deep clean those soiled areas.
  • Another tip for when floors start to look dull, use recipe #3 to help make the floors shine and bring them back to life.  Try using a few tablespoons of olive oil on a rag for scuffed, dull or or scratched areas.  Making sure to buff area with a clean cloth.
  • In conclusion, use a mop with washable cloth attachments.  Simply toss soiled cloths into the washing machine.  No need to keep dirt and germs sitting on a mop in the closet.
    • I use the O-Cedar Microfiber Flip Mop.   I also have an extra Microfiber Mop Refill.   Rather than using the same mop for the entire house, have a few microfiber refills on hand.

I totally need to try your homemade hardwood floor cleaner. My three bedrooms have hardwood. Although all three have some water damage from the past 70 years.

These cleaners are amazing. I would highly recommend that you try the recipe #3 on the bathroom. If you use extra olive oil on a rag to work on those damaged areas, make sure to buff with a clean rag after. Its really helped bring back life to our hardwood floors.

We have hardwoods all over our house and with a new mobile baby this is perfect timing. I may have to try this!

These are all great cleaners! I definitely use something similar but slightly different to clean our hardwood floors. There are a lot of natural cleaners you can use in your home so that you can cut out those pesky chemicals.

I make my own cleaners as well! So much better than any other thing you buy in the store and it is so much healthier to have around the family

Thanks for sharing these DIY hardwood floor cleaners. I occasionally babysit my grandson and he is just like all over the place. Keeping the floor clean without using harsh chemicals will give me peace of mind when he is home with me.

I couldn’t agree more. Having peace of mind while the sweet little ones are crawling around is so very important. Hope you like these recipes and enjoy your sweet grandson. They grow up so fast.
