Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. I love the scents of fall- Pumpkin spice lattes and hot apple cider are two of my favorites. I love scented pinecones, and I am drawn to them at the store when I see them. However, nothing says holidays like glitter scented pinecones.

My sons’ hiking adventure gathering pinecones yielded a huge bag of pinecones. I made a really fun Christmas tree craft, but still had a bunch of pinecones left over. I knew exactly what I was going to do with them. They definitely add a beautiful touch to our living room.

I like to decorate with things that transform from one season to the next. I can keep these up from Halloween through the New Year!

Directions:

  1. Mix the ground cinnamon and ground cloves in a gallon size ziplock bag. I used approximately 1 part cloves to 3 parts cinnamon ratio.
  2. Pour glitter in separate bowls.
  3. Place clean pinecone in bag of spices. Shake gently to coat the pinecone. Remove excess spices.
  4. Spray the pinecone covered in spices with spray adhesive. While still damp, cover with glitter. Gently shake off excess.
  5. Repeat in the different colors. I also add a little extra spice on top.

Tips:

  • Wear gloves when working with spray adhesive. It made a sticky hot mess on my nails and fingertips.
  • Use mod podge to coat the pinecone with glitter by painting it with the mod podge. My method gives it more of a shimmer.
  • Target now has the best assortment of glitter. Check out their improved craft section with reasonably priced supplies.
