4th of July Patriotic Wreath Tutorial
This 4th of July Patriotic Wreath tutorial is perfect for Independence day or Memorial Day. It’s so simple and only requires a few supplies.
This summer I was determined to get the kids involved for the holidays. We have done an assortment of crafts and activities and this one was so much fun. This 4th of July patriotic wreath tutorial is easy for toddlers to be involved. My son was such a helper with painting, clipping and gluing.
For this activity, you will need the following:
- 12″ Wire Wreath
- 60 Clothes Pins
- White Wooden Stars
- Red, White & Blue Paint
- Paint Brushes
- Hot glue gun
- Hot Glue
This project is fun to do with your kids. I let my son help me paint. He had so much fun being involved.
- Paint the clothes pins. About 10 clothes pins will be painted blue. The others should be split evenly and painted red and blue
- Paint the wooden stars white. You can also buy white stickers but I really like the wooden stars since they kept a cohesive wooden overall look. I let my son paint this part because it was a little messy. You could also spray paint.
- Start clipping the clothes pins on the inner ring of the wreath. Use the pattern 3 red, 3 white all the way around. Next, fill the remaining space with the navy pins.
- Hot glue the stars to the blue area. This is an eyeball situation and depends on the size of the stars. I stuck mine on in a very calculated pattern because I’m type A.
- Hang up and admire. This is always my favorite part. Hang your wreath and then admire your craftiness. I can’t place mine on my front door because it is hot pink. So I created an outdoor space for our 4th of July party!

That came out awesome!!! I am not the crafty type, but I think that even I could pull this off. I love it.

I just made a patriotic wreath with paper straws- I love that this doesn’t require any glue and is safe for kids of all ages!
Laurie Beth Gulley
I Love the straws one! I did glue on the stars, but you could use stickers!

I’m all about the easy crafts that I can provide minimal guidance! That way, the kids REALLY feel ownership of the project, and beam with pride for making it! I love this!

This is a great wreath idea for the 4th of July. I will have to get the supplies I need to make one this weekend.

It’s super easy for sure!

This wreath looks so easy to make. I can remember one year I tried to make a wreath out of just clothespins, without any kind of support system, and it was a disaster. Using a support in the middle is genius, and definitely saves a lot of time.
Laurie Beth Gulley
This sounds like me too! We get smarter with age 😉
Liz Mays
This is such a cool wreath! This should be a fun little project and the wreath will work for multiple patriotic events.
Laurie Beth Gulley
I agree! I could totally rock it all summer as well as Memorial Day & Labor Day!
